Tinos: Outside Volax

While the village of Volax, on the island of Tinos, it picturesque and quaint like most island villages, it is the area outside the town that is really interesting, and actually pretty weird. The village is known for basket-making but its real claim to fame is the periphery’s strange, moonlike landscape – gentle hills dotted with huge round rocks. A visitor could completely miss this area of the island – the landscape changes almost immediately behind the crest of a hill – and then you find.. this!

I would love to see this place. Do you know what the circles of stones represent? Are they the remains of circular buildings?
